Science Building Renovation and Addition

LaGrange, GA

The LaGrange College Science Building Renovation and Addition is envisioned as a multi-disciplinary facility for teaching and research. Using the principals outlined by Project Kaleidoscope, Lord, Aeck & Sargent is designing flexible teaching and research spaces which will foster teacher-student interaction and promote collaboration among the students.

In addition to the enhanced teaching spaces for Computer Science, Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Nursing and Psychology, the building will include research space to supplement the existing teaching labs. The new research spaces are designed to create opportunities for “intellectual collisions,” to promote a research community environment, and equip students with the skills and research practices necessary to succeed in graduate school and/or in their professional careers.

Sustainable strategies will include an active green roof, sunshades, rainwater collection, daylight harvesting and modulated lighting. The project is targing LEED certification.
