Arcadia Commons West Master Plan
Arcadia Commons West (ACW) is a joint endeavor of five public/private community agencies and property owners.
The ACW Collaboration, consisting of the City of Kalamazoo, the City of Kalamazoo’s Downtown Development Authority, Downtown Tomorrow, Inc., the Kalamazoo Community Foundation and Western Michigan University, sought a vision that maximized land values, urban design and community integration.
The ACW project is on a 6.3-acre, four-city block site in the heart of downtown Kalamazoo that was formerly home to multiple small businesses and a car dealership. The site was mostly vacant land with a variety of opportunities to connect it to the surrounding community assets, including the Kalamazoo River and the Western Michigan University campus. The LAS/RISE team developed a variety of site and mixed-use concepts for consideration by the community and its leadership.
