The additional beds provided in Gordon Village are part of the Gordon State College’s expansion plans to accommodate the transition from a two-year institution to a four-year institution.
The Village is designed to support a comprehensive living/learning community. The facility contains a satellite food service café, a convenience store, a computer lab and a central student lounge. To further promote student interaction, informal study lounges are conveniently located in each wing and on every floor.
The Village incorporates a palette of red and buff colored brick that compliments the existing Gordon Commons and also relates to the surrounding campus architecture. The building was carefully sited to maximize opportunities for exterior gathering by creating a shared quadrangle activated by and locating the new tower element that serves as a landmark feature, welcoming students with outdoor seating for the cafe.
